Northern Harvest Premium Smalls

Packaging · Northern Harvest

Context

Northern Harvest is a Humboldt County cannabis house, est. 1997, built on indoor flower and farmed by the same family for three decades. In a category that brands itself loud, the house had real heritage and no visual language to carry it: closer in spirit to a heritage spirits label than to anything else in the case.

Role

The smalls tier needed its own package. Seven grams of hand-selected small buds from the same indoor grow as the eighth, at a quarter-ounce price point the boxes were never built for. The category default for smalls is a loud mylar bag that announces the discount. The brief was the brand's first flexible package, holding the same shelf presence as the board.

Case Study

I carried the flagship system onto a matte navy mylar pouch. The front mirrors the box: monogram, serif lockup, one line of weight and origin, all in white. On the back I cut a star-shaped window through the film, so the buyer inspects the actual flower instead of a stock photo of it. The window borrows the star from the monogram, which makes the inspection hole a brand mark. The back panel reads light, inhale, enjoy, and a QR carries the rest.

Notes

7g of hand-selected smalls, same indoor grow as the eighth. Matte navy mylar, white-only print, same spec as the boxes. Star die-cut window shows the flower itself. Back panel reads: light, inhale, enjoy. Compliance block set in the house type, not vendor default.
