Garden Church Website
Web Design · Garden Church
Garden Church was planted in 2009 and renamed in 2026 to match what it had become. It ships more design per week than most startups, none of it made by designers, which makes the brand system an operational problem rather than a visual one.
Church sites are built for the people already inside them: an events feed, a giving button, and a stack of ministry pages nobody outside the building can parse. The visitor Garden actually needed to reach has one question, which is what happens if I walk in on Sunday. The job was a site that answers that before it asks for anything.
Wrote the architecture around the first visit rather than the org chart, so a Sunday is documented minute by minute, doors through response, with the room size and the length of each part stated plainly. Held the homepage to the lockup on green and nothing else, which sets the brand before any content argues for it. Carried the guidelines onto screen exactly, Playfair for display and a grotesque for reading, so the site and the printed system are visibly the same brand. Built and shipped in code, live at gardencda.com.
Sunday documented step by step with real durations, not a service blurb. Homepage is the lockup on green, no carousel, no announcement bar. Type mirrors the printed guidelines: Playfair display over a grotesque text face. Gathering times carry room character, so a visitor can pick the quieter one. Live at gardencda.com.
